India Wins Asia Cup against pakistan

Despite of putting excellent demonstration of greatest matured knock ever by Shahid Khan Afridi, Pakistan struggled to find the victory which they are searching from last 7 months in ODI Matches. Now what next ? Here comes clash between two ruthless rivals.

PAKISTAN vs INDIA. Again there will be high hopes in our nation of 17 crore people. Again there will be emotional touch involved in the match. But can anybody feel the pressure which will be on our team, as they have lost 6 ODI Matches in row.

This time around with pressure of 6 loses in the row, Pakistan will take on India and in back of mind there will be another element that is emotion attachment. Both Indian and Pakistani fans hate to see their teams lose against each other.

Now coming toward the position of Team players, new players are inline in Pakistan’s team. So far in first match, both debutantes, Shahzaib and Umar Amin, were unable to perform but still  high hopes are connected with them.
Talking about hopes, we must have set the tone to its heights because, in such conditions, where our team already under pressure by different like:
    * Losing streak (6 loses in a row)
    * Criticism back in country on some of the senior players
    * Criticism on Afridi on giving Test Captaincy
    * Criticism on Shoaib Malik for bringing him back into the team
    * Criticism on Team, not playing as one UNIT
Now they will have to face emotional pessure by the Nation as well.
So considering all the above element, Performance of Team can be effected, so we as nation should buck up our team, as they in rebuilding process. There are some positive signs such as:

    * Afridi Leadership, who has engaged himself maturely enough to lead even in Test
    * Return of Shoaib Akhtar, who is certainly having last roaring triumph in his cricketing career
    * Asif and Aamir availability as fit players
    * Razzaq presence and Salman Butt’s batting form

Now if we consider the above points, Pakistan can have chance to rattle the Top Team chart in any format of the Cricket Game. But as nation, we must respond well to them in this specific rebuilding process.

Key Players of Pakistan in 19th June Match against India:

    * Salman Butt : who has better average against India, must fire
    * Kamran Brothers
    * Shahid Khan Afridi

If these four perform well, Pakistan certainly can rattle India by their batting. Bowling Attack is considerably  good enough to restrict Indian to make towering score. So lets hope for the best.

Pakistan Cricket Gone for Good … Match Fixing Scandal!

Where the nation was yet recovering from the shock given by the performance of the boys in green in the ongoing test at Lords’, all focus has now shifted to the media reports coming out of England claiming that they have uncovered a match fixing scandal involving top Pakistani players.
As the details are still sketchy and team officials have preferred to go into hiding instead of answering media, it is hard to say what exactly is going on. For the time being all we know is that Mohammad Aamir, Asif, Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal are in the center of this controversy. The English media in a covert operation filmed one of the middle men for these Pakistani players accepting the sum of € 150k on their behalf.

Later to the surprise of nearly every one watching this hidden cam recording, this middle man in advance informs the bookie of certain signals from these players, which will reveal that the match is fixed. One is amazed that his exact timing of the said no-balls by Mohammad Aamir and Asif is repeated later in the match a day later by these player.

The middle man later boasts that he has 7 top Pakistani players dancing to his tunes while his links extend to the management of Pakistan cricket board. Toward the night Scotland Yard along with the officials of ICC anti corruption board were investigating the players of Pakistan’s team, while reports also emerged regarding the discovery of the above mentioned cash from the rooms of these players.

This was undoubtedly the last thing cricket Pakistan required and as a nation this is nothing less than a night mare. Although the investigation has just started, I would like to predict that the matter will go much further than any one has thought initially. Some reports claimed that this middle man has revealed that his activities are going on for the last 1 and a half year and he has claimed to have booked matches even during the tour of Australia.

If this comes true, than not only the players named above but many who are facing expulsion from the team right now will also come under the red light. On the other hand this event has once again refreshed the bitter memories of match fixing in the past, where we saw players like Wasim Akram, Salim Malik , Ijaz Ahmed, Mushtaq and many more disgraced.

On the national level, this is nothing less than a betrayal to the nation. With millions in open skies waiting for food and shelter, they are paid to carry on the pride of this nation but undoubtedly they have proved themselves as a disgrace to this nation. Whatever Scotland Yard or ICC officials perceive from this case, it is requested by the entire nation from the patron in chief of Pakistan cricket board to initiate a free and fair judicial inquiry against all of them, and without any discrimination the team officials and players involved should be taken to task for this treason. Ijaz Butt and his chosen puppets have nothing more to loose. It was clear that by a scheme some top line players were disrespected and discarded from the team and keeping this in mind, the blame and justice should roll from the top level.

Not as a Pakistani but a cricket fan, this act of a few has put the credibility of this game at stake. Till the inquiry yield any results, all we can do is to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best, both for Pakistan and the cricketing world as well.

ICC suspends Pakistani team

Eighteen years ago it was the Holy month of Ramadan when cricket brought an extravagant delight for the people of Pakistan as we had crowned World Champions for the first time. But now during the same month we’ve been facing the worst ever cricket corruption charges against few of our players. Some cherished memories ah!!
Few days back British tabloid News Of The World (which has been sued by celebrities five times and has been famous for celebrity scoops and scandals) broke the sensational story of spot fixing scandal by bribing a bookie, Mazhar Majeed. In a hidden camera video the bookie allegedly informed the reporter that Amir and Asif will deliver no balls at particular time during the Lord’s test match. Later on the same happened. Only God knows if the video was made before or after the day when some extraordinary no balls were delivered.

Following the story of News Of The World, there has been a hurricane in the media regading the scandal demanding life time ban and strict action against the players. PCB remained deaf and dumb to this highly enraged debate, as were the players who were named. There were doubted actions and reactions coming from them. Scotland Yard step in to investigate the matter and so far its report has not been made public. Wicket keeper Kamran Akmal has been cleared after the investigations.

But now finally the storm of spot fixing has engulfed the flawed jewels of cricket as International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to suspened three Pakistani Players, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt under anti-corruption code. They are immediately banned from participating in all cricket and related activities until the case concludes.

An ICC press release said that the three players had been charged with “various offences under Article 2 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for Players and Player Support Personnel relating to alleged irregular behavior during, and in relation to, the fourth Test between England and Pakistan at Lord’s last month”. The players have 14 days to appeal against the decision and to request a hearing.

The decision was somewhat expected as it was annouced ealier by PCB that players are not in a frame of mind to continue the series so they decided to voluntarily step out of the remaining matches of the ongoing UK tour. At the same time ICC announced the suspension without sharing any proof or evidence against the players.

The ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said:
ICC suspends Pakistani team video

“We will not tolerate corruption in cricket – simple as that. We must be decisive with such matters and if proven, these offences carry serious penalties up to a life ban. It is important, however, that we do not pre-judge the guilt of these three players. That is for the independent tribunal alone to decide.”

The whole scenario indeed has been sad for the spirit of sports and every sport lover condemns such corruption in their beloved sport. People sacrifice their time and money to watch their heroes playing for the sake of their national pride, not for some fixed match. ICC anti corruption unit is operational but it needs to be more alert and effective. The players have been charged with some serious allegations which if proved could and should result in lifetime ban, but if not, no body could bring their self pride back.
